WHAT IS THIS CONTEST ABOUT?

Dads who are spotted reading to their children at the libraries from 15th June to 3rd August 2008, will have their photos taken by National Library Board Library staff, with consent. The Dad’s names will be entered into a lucky draw where they stand a chance to win one of 20 prizes. Winners will be notified through the handphone numbers given by them to NLB.

WHAT IS THE AIM OF THIS CONTEST?

Organised by the 10K Fathers Reading Team, the contest aims to showcase Dads who take an active role in reading to their children and in doing so, encourge more Dads to spend their free time, reading to their children in the library as part of their family ritual.

WHAT WILL THE PHOTOS BE USED FOR?

The photos will be collated for a ‘Dad! Get Spotted’ photo exhibition showcasing the many fathers who read to their children in the public libraries on 30th August 2008 at Woodlands Regional Library. As this is the first time NLB is having such a contest, there maybe a possibility of some local media coverage. The photos will also be featured in our internal NLB newsletter and this 10K fathers reading website.

Set aside some time @ home to read a story to your child and stand to win book vouchers!

Complete a book review together and e-mail it to Nurlinah_suarli@nlb.gov.sg latest by 17 August 2008.

Only shortlisted participants will be notified by phone.

Prizes will be presented at Woodlands Regional Library on 30th August 2008.

The 10K Fathers Reading Carnival held on 15 June 2008 was a success. There was a huge turn-out from patrons especially the fathers. Everyone participated in at least two of the many activities and programmes. Look out for our ongoing contest of ‘Dad! Get Spotted! and an upcoming Reader’s Theatre competition as part of the 10K Fathers Reading Project 2008!!!
